An Interview with Superintendent Clint Mitchell
Last week, the Advance ran an extensive interview with Spotsylvania’s new Superintendent, Clint Mitchell. In this extraordinary discussion, Mitchell talks about why education is vital to children’s success, his 90-day plan, and his commitment to the “Core 3-over-3” — the three things everyone can do for kids consistently for three years.
In you have not read it, we recommend that you spend time there.
We did ask Mitchell if for this feature, he would speak to the one thing that he believes is most important for students and parents to embrace this year. Here’s his response.
The most important piece is that they have to find a trusting adult in the schoolhouse that their child can connect with, and they can connect with as a family, to help them navigate the tough and difficult situations they may face during the course of the year. Nothing is unsolvable if we can find trusting adults to help us navigate that. I would like every child to find that trusting adult at school.

Support Award-winning, Locally Focused Journalism
The FXBG Advance cuts through the talking points to deliver both incisive and informative news about the issues, people, and organizations that daily affect your life. And we do it in a multi-partisan format that has no equal in this region. Over the past month, our reporting was:
First to report on a Spotsylvania School teacher arrested for bringing drugs onto campus.
First to report on new facility fees leveled by MWHC on patient bills.
First to detail controversial traffic numbers submitted by Stafford staff on the Buc-ee’s project
Provided extensive coverage of the cellphone bans that are sweeping local school districts.
And so much more, like Clay Jones, Drew Gallagher, Hank Silverberg, and more.
