Shortly after 1 p.m. a fire broke out at Choices Women’s Center at 10008 Southpoint Parkway, near American Family Fitness.
A Ms. Wilson of the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates was in the building at the time the fire broke out. She was there for a training event, and she estimates there were about 21 people inside at the time.
She credits first responders for quickly responding to the scene and controlling the situation. “As we came out of the building, we could hear the sirens,” she told the Advance.
According to Ms. Wilson, there were no injuries that she was aware of.
A number of fire trucks from Spotsylvania County were on the scene, along with several rescue vehicles. A ladder truck was pulled alongside the center and firefighters were ascending to the roof.
The Advance will provide more information as is warranted.
