Caroline Middle School has received a Virginia Naturally recognition from the state Department of Wildlife Resources for the third year.
Virginia Naturally, which is the state’s official environmental education school recognition program, honors schools that are working to include environmental literacy in their curricula
Caroline Middle is among 58 schools in Virginia to receive this recognition for the 2023-34 year, which altogether represent 39,000 students.
Schools are evaluated based on whether they provide “authentic, hands-on, real-world learning” that includes “civic engagement and/or STEM connections” in the classroom; and on whether they provide learning that “expands beyond the classroom.”
In the Fredericksburg area, Spotsylvania’s Post Oak Middle School also received the designation.
