Inmates at the Rappahannock Regional Jail will soon see the cost of phone calls rise 67%, following a decision by the Trump Administration's FCC to rollback a 2024 policy capping the cost of calls.
The sad thing is that, by it's nature, a regional jail houses many who have been arrested - but not yet convicted. Who by the Constitution are presumed innocent until convicted. Yet these institutions and service providers have a monopoly on a literally captive audience - whom they can gouge and use as a cash cow for whatever they wish.
Our judicial system should not be run for profit. Yet it is.
Another hidden way that the poor subsidize the rich.

Damn shame.
