Thank you Ms Uphaus.

Though I have to say, we know. If we don't, we should.

I am certain there are other stories even more horrendous.

Yet I can't help wondering how we are any different from those folks we despise from the 1800's, 1700's, 1600's or for that matter, 1900's and 2000's. We know things like this are happening, yet because we, individually, are not that cruel - and because it hasn't (yet) happened to us - or we didn't know anyone it happened to, or didn't see a video of it happening - we feel no compulsion to do anything about it.

On so many fronts, so many levels - this plays out like a well worn record.

Healthcare. We know multitudes are dying unnecessarily. Policing. We just watched a woman get shot down in cold blood, and then watched it being ignored. On and on.

On this case?

Too bad she wasn't a model from Slovenia willing to become the 3rd wife of an amoral billionaire. She could be first lady. Though honestly, I'm not absolutely certain she didn't get a better bargain.

It sounds like Ms Benitez did the right thing.

But until we, the American voters - do the same - this and all of the other of our problems are going to continue.

When we vote for the status quo, because it's cheaper to have that 3rd world contract worker as your custodian than to pay someone who would have rights - is that her choice or ours?

Just like the slaves of yore, I bet she was friendly and helpful whenever asked. I'd be too. Especially if I had family depending on me coming home at the end of the day.

People in fear and without power will do whatever they can. For themselves and their family.

Is she the problem, or is it us?

I think we all know the answer. Our chickens get plucked, trash picked up along the highway, lawns mowed, cows milked. There's a whole shadow economy that exists.

Because we have chosen it.

If you want it to change, choose differently.

Else, do not be surprised at the results.

Anyway, thanks for letting us know

Though honestly? We already knew, didn't we?
