The FOIA battle over the RHS Swim team horror story is in a critical phase. There are no "exemptions" applicable, and it appears there was incredible wrong-doing even beyond what's been reported. I have strong, timely and well-scoped FOIA requests targeted to texts and email messages between and among SCPS and RHS officials and "the parent at the center of the controversy" (i.e., the one who thought our pod model was a "social program for overweight kids." We are on the cusp of production and we intend to make the information available to the Press so the community has visibility into what really happened here. Stand with us and write your district reps. Tell them you're not interested in staged dramas over Gillespie's child and parents going to class rooms. They're just running out the clock, waiting for more changes in the zeitgeist as we get towards November's elections. Push hard NOW. Every day, write somebody that you want the RHS swim records on Taylor, Gillespie, Downs, and Phelps. We're right there. All who believe in transparent, effective, non-corrupt -- for any side -- self-government: we. are. right. there. Please double and triple down on simple, two line messages to your representatives to produce the records. And keep sending it.

As a Stafford resident, this report is troubling. Both in showing questionable behavior, but also learning how serious the challenges are in the county; as we deal with pressures from exploding population and its impacts on our infrastructure.

The concern regarding equity between the "haves" who live on one side of the interstate - where development and population is booming, and the "have-nots" who live on the other is troubling. Personally, I am not too thrilled that I live much closer to a meth clinic than a library.

But with that being said, I also am troubled with the decided favoritism that this publication seems to give Ms. Gary. It appeared in the stilted reporting when she was running for State Senator and pulled votes away from Griffin, yet was handled with kid gloves. It appears again in this article.

As the one most affected by the issue of her microphone being turned off, shouldn't she have been one of the MAIN people questioned as to why she thought that happened, rather than not being questioned at all?

If you're going to be viewed as objective, you need to act so. Like the hound that didn't bark, the idea of not asking the same question of her that you did of others - speaks volumes to your credibility in this matter. And encourages the view that the reason some folks choose not to answer you is that implicit bias and lack of objectivity.

Do better.
