As the water crisis in Orange County pushes into its third day, the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank is joining forces with Del. Phillip Scott and Sen. Bryce Reeves for a special water distribution event at Wilderness Center near Sheetz, 5489 Germanna Highway in Locust Grove.
“We are fortunate to be in a position to have some donated water supplies on hand that are ideal for emergency relief,” Food Bank president and CEO Dan Maher told the Advance Friday evening. “This time of year we usually think of our need to be ready to mobilize to respond to tropical weather impacts, but the Locust Graove situation shows the value of preparation and an ability to pivot.”
He thanked by Scott and Reeves, saying “When asked by Delegate Scott and Senator Reeves to help address the needs of their constituents, we were honored by their request and pleased to be in a position to help.”
The distribution begins at 9:30 a.m., and lasts until supplies are depleted.

The FXBG Advance cuts through the talking points to deliver both incisive and informative news about the issues, people, and organizations that daily affect your life. And we do it in a multi-partisan format that has no equal in this region. Over the past month, our reporting was:
First to report on a Spotsylvania School teacher arrested for bringing drugs onto campus.
First to report on new facility fees leveled by MWHC on patient bills.
First to detail controversial traffic numbers submitted by Stafford staff on the Buc-ee’s project
Provided extensive coverage of the cellphone bans that are sweeping local school districts.
And so much more, like Clay Jones, Drew Gallagher, Hank Silverberg, and more.
