The Fredericksburg School Board’s meeting agenda for Monday evening includes a closed session at 6:30 p.m., followed by an open session at 7:30 p.m. On the agenda are recognitions, four action items, and eight information items. Among the information items is the proposed new elementary zoning map to go into effect in August of 2025.
Closed Session
The closed session will be convened to discuss employment recommendations.
Recognitions
Recognitions include the James Monroe High School student ambassadors, residential Governor’s School participation, Marguerite B. Young award recipients, employee incentive award recipients, national IT Professionals Day, and a new administrative employee.
Consent Agenda
The consent agenda includes approval of the August 5 meeting minutes and approval of a change in the date and location of next month’s School Board meeting to October 7 at James Monroe High School.
Action Items
The four action items are approval of personnel recommendations, approval of the James Monroe High School performing arts and choral department field trip requests, the 2024 Virginia School Board Association’s media honor role for 2024, and affirmation of the School Board’s 2024-25 annual goals. The annual goals are:
to secure funding for salaries, benefits, and resources
to expand workforce training programs
to ensure safe environment; to recognize social emotional needs
to ensure that gifted programs “mirror our student population”
to increase “student participation and representation in board activities”
to organize an annual retreat aimed at “improving internal communication and fostering team building”
Information Items
These include an update on the start of the 2024-25 school year; an instructional and financial update; an update on the division’s mission, vision and tagline; proposed policy revisions; a safety update; and presentation of the new elementary attendance zones.
