... School Board elections have had a bad couple decades. Don't expect schools to get better until the people of Fredericksburg decide that education matters.
Those who can afford it are opting out of the public school system. All should have that option. Like other states have successfully done, Virginia should fund a school choice system that breeds competition, rather than our current complacent monopoly. NOVA's data center-astronomically well funded public school system is another option.(see Loudoun county).
When the City Manager presented a set of city values to the City Council a few years back there was no mention of fiscal responsibility as a public service goal. There is also no mention of honesty or integrity as values either. It seems we have set our standards pretty low.
and to think the Fxbg School Board Chair Matt Rowe thinks that he has done such a good job that he should be on City Council. What a joke!

Ask each school board member why they think FPS consistently ranks academically in bottom percentile in Virginia and post response.
There is not the will of the city council, our judicial system, parents, and citizens.
It will take an outsider held accountable w broad powers and free rein - the fix will be painful.
I think it criminal to operate a well funded school system that ranks in bottom%
