So easy to say "I'm sorry," instead of resorting to the infantile fake news claim. Even though he may not have had anything to do with the way that requirement was presented, he's the boss and therefore responsible. He should take a lesson from Harry Truman - "the buck stops here."
I just finished listening to the Adam Lynch Podcast. Taking everything Adam says as gospel is a mistake. He has shown many times during this controversy to dance around the truth if it suits his narrative. You allowed your guests to use broad generalizations about people who oppose ADU's, by labeling them as fearful, racists and selfish without any challenge. I am offended on so many levels. Are you planning on taking an hour talking to some of the people who did not support ADU's?
Thanks for writing this, Jackie!! I would **love** to talk to the folks who did not support ADUs and bring their thoughts to the table.
One helpful point: the discussion between ADUs and single-family housing in the 1960s are very separate issues. The wider question as to why Fredericksburg didn't have more ADUs is linked to how we did planning and development thru the 1960s and into the 1980s -- but not a single person labels anyone supporting ADUs as "fearful, racist, and selfish" and linking them as intention is way too much. An unforeseen third order effect? Far more accurate (and who can be blamed for that? not sure that's even possible...)
To Ben Litchfield, thank you for your explanation and analysis. What can I (and other Spotsylvanians) do to get the State Bar involved?
