Shame. And yet more proof that medical care controlled by anything other than the public has its own interests first. We pay 1/6th of the largest economy in the world to get middle of the road care while the "administrators" get rich while proclaiming they have everyone elses best interest at heart.

Til they dont.....

Not mentioned here is the legal obligation of nonprofit MWHC to provide services to the community equivalent to the federal, state and local taxes it does not pay. The IRS is supposed to audit these nonprofits every three years to determine if they are performing as required but does not. Rather than paying taxes this allows MWHC to pay lavish salaries to its administrators and some staff. Time for an audit?

Dr Moss is likely spinning in his grave over this. Still, the writing is on the wall when you change to a new landlord who holds the power and money and controls the business roof over your head. This area has more than its fair share of indigents with churches bringing them in to control middle class followers. With two homeless shelters and talk of a third, we are tasked at breaking point where it now takes tax money to support that originally begun by churches. Is this fair? No. But, it is what it is with no chance of relief. And we know only too well that any time there's a change in management hierarchy all bets are off the table. The hospital authority sees Moss as strengthening their new residency program and hopefully there are contracts in place used to guarantee a minimum of required community stay providing services once residency is completed and not just a wink of hopeful thinking. Much of this could be handled by forced contributions to offset church tax exemption with only worship halls being tax exempt. This would stop a choking drain on community resources and ensure all pay a fair share.

I'm surprised that more commentary on the Dental healthcare that Moss provides has not been written about. Dental care, of course, is not an included service for medicaid or medicare recipients. Another gross failing of our for profit health care system. And while MWH claims to want to grow its doctor base, I think Moss has been aiding in growing dental hygienists and dental techs for years in cooperation with Germanna Community College. No mention of this additional partnership anywhere. Interesting. I do wonder what the backroom discussions have been like. This rupture of the Moss and MWHC relationship, hot on the heals of the Kid Station fiasco, doesn't speak well of MWHC's committnent to being an earnest partner in creating a holiticly healthy community.
