So many wonderful lines in here. Especially the close about Robespierre...an analogy appropriate to the end, for the fire breathers on each side of the spectrum.

The Nazi's burned thousands of books to preserve their pure Aryan culture. From the light of those fires we could see who they really were. Archer Di Peppe

Excellent article. In the late 1970's I had a student in a Virginia High School League speaking tournament relate, "An American school board tried to ban a book called “Making it with Mademoiselle”, as they believed it was inappropriate. They hadn’t bothered to research it. They reversed their decision after the book turned out to be a how-to pattern book about dress-making." It has been my experience that those that try to ban books are by far the least literate in the community.
