OPINION: Living Small
Everyone's looking to Tuesday, and the end of election season. It's a perfect time to take a few moments and gain some perspective.

If you’re weary of elections, you’re in good company.
From candidates to voters, party chairs to citizens, one constant refrain has emerged in my conversations with others this week — “I can’t wait until Tuesday is past.”
In the rush to get past the stress that elections generate, however, don’t forget to appreciate the moment.
Nature is putting on a show, and it’s beckoning us to set the big problems aside and take a few moments to just be.
It’s as simple as stepping outside and finding something to admire. With the trees a quilt of golds, reds, yellows, and tans, living small awaits anyone willing to stop and take in the annual rush of color.
From Hurkamp Park to the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park, the opportunities to take in nature’s annual display and enjoy some moments of quiet abound in central Virginia.
As Thomas Boswell — a former Washington Post sports writer best known for his book Why Time Begins on Opening Day — reminds us. “Life can't be all big problems.” We need those moments to simply be.
Today, step outside, enjoy. And take a friend.
