Stafford County’s Commissioner of the Revenue, Scott Mayausky, has been appointed to the board of the Virginia Resources Authority, a statewide fiscal body that offers low interest rate loans to local governments.
The VRA was created 40 years ago by the General Assembly and has financed 3,500 infrastructure projects accounting for over $12 billion in local government investment.
The authority has loaned Stafford County $294 million since 2004 to fund a variety of projects, such as dam restorations at Hidden Lake and Lake Arrowhead and upgrades to water treatment facilities.
The 11-member VRA board is appointed by the governor. Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced Mayausky’s appointment on July 2.
Mayausky, who has served as Stafford’s Commissioner of the Revenue since 2000 and was most recently reelected in November, said in a press release that he is honored by the appointment.
“[I] appreciate the trust Governor Youngkin has shown in me to serve on the Virginia Resources Authority,” he said. “I am excited to get to work and help localities throughout the Commonwealth build the infrastructure they need to best serve their communities.”
Senator Tara Durant said Mayausky brings “a wealth of knowledge” to the VRA through his years in public service and public finance.”
“Governor Youngkin hit a home run with this appointment,” she said in a press release.
