State of the Race at 11 P.M.
Our James Monroe High School student volunteers put up the latest numbers above. Below, a video with Eve Wenger, the fourth James Monroe High School student helping us this evening!
The State of the Race
As of press time, the race between Democrat Eugene Vindman and Republican Derrick Anderson was too close to call. Just before 10 p.m., an Anderson spokesperson addressed the room where the watch party was being held and announced there were about 65,000 outstanding early votes to come in. Those votes were Stafford, Culpeper, and Greene, which went heavily for Anderson.
The speaker invited the people to stay, but said they were going to wait it out until all the early votes had been counted.
In Fredericksburg where Vindman was holding his watch party, Advance correspondent Hank Silverberg reported an upbeat room, but no word from party officials about the final outcome of the election.
The Advance will have a breakdown of all today’s elections, including the hotly contested 7th District, in tomorrow afternoon’s edition.
