1st, thank you for your service. To all of you as a group, and to you personally. Decades of quiet service to the community, making a difference in people's lives.
When I first heard the phrase "angels unaware", I misunderstood it. In that I thought the Bible (Hebrews 13:1-2) was not warning us to treat others with care, because they might be God's representatives on Earth, hidden from sight. But rather, I thought that it was telling us that there are people who walk among us, doing good with their lives, never realizing that THEY are angels.
Even though my interpretation was wrong, I still believe such people exist, and that you are one of them. There is no telling what good you have done over decades of service, so I thank you.
Still, as you say, it is shocking to see such support dropped with so little notice, in a time when needs are growing. As you mention, along with the other sudden moves being made by MWH, one has to wonder what gives?
Financial distress? Change in management? Growth plans?
I look forward to someone such as Ms Uphaus getting to the bottom of the matter. Something's going on. And it's having a large, negative impact on many aspects of the community's care.
As Paul Harvey used to say, there's got to be a "rest of the story" there.
MWHC operates as a nonprofit which means it pays not a penny of its revenues as local, state or federal tax. In turn it has an obligation to provide roughly equal medical services to its community rather than use tax exempt status to hike the salaries and benefits of its doctors, owners and directors. But how do we the taxpayers know MWHC is living up to its obligations? Surely now is the time to commission an independent accountant familiar with nonprofits to perform an audit of the whole MWHC system
Wow.

Wonder what it is?

Oh my. Thank you for your service. Is anyone taking over this program? What happened?
