STACK is the DATA CENTER developer for 'Celebrate Virginia' for the 8-12 DATA CENTERS to go in the TOD/Technology Overlay District near the Fred Nats ballpark. DATA CENTERS surrounding the apts for children who are 'historically marginalized' and their families on THREE sides, senior living 'Jubilation' on one side.
Yet Fredericksburg Regional Alliance Curry Roberts (just recently appointed by this 2026 NON-transparent Council to be on the FXBG EDA/Economic Development Authority) worked behind the scenes to get former Councilor Jon Gerlach to contact Councilor Holmes and Vice Mayor Frye to 'socialize' the Fred City Public Schools PTAs, FCPS teachers assn, and the NAACP only to the positives of DATA CENTERS. (FOIA/Freedom of Info Act email, 10-1-2024).
So these residents came into the 2-25-25 Council Chambers wearing their 2-inch buttons in James Monroe HS colors of orange/black: 'I Support DATA CENTERS!' braying at the mic: 'DATA CENTERS are good, DATA CENTERS money will go to the schools (savvy-to-the-shill teachers in the audience just rolled their eyes), DATA CENTERS are for our children, DATA CENTERS are for our children's future!'
We texted each other, 'WHOSE children are they talking about?' and went to the mic to talk about DATA CENTERS emitting 'silent killers', fine particulate matter that drifts in the air, and causes lung cancer, cardiovascular issues, and premature death. When we left that just as long meeting as the PENZANCE one on 8-25-26, after midnight, only the NAACP members came up to us who were speaking REALITY of DATA CENTERS at the mic, ticked that they had been used as props, misled because they were NOT told 'the other side of the story'.
Sure is encouraging now to see NAACP members come out to the public comment mic to speak to Environmental and Climate Justice.
Also reassuring is the activism of Christian Nunes, CEO of Equity Bound Solutions, in partnership with the AI & Justice Coalition. She is conducting a series of Community Listening Sessions focusing on DATA CENTERS & EQUITY.

Kevin Hughes, Charlie Payne, and Martin Davis haven't been associated with The Advance since I took over as editor in June.
