Locust Grove Middle School in Orange County, where a do-not-use tap-water alert was issued Wednesday night, has shifted from education center to distribution center for potable water.
With the source of contamination still unknown, it may remain so for several more days.
The Advance visited a number of stores along Route 3 and in Orange County on Thursday, each of which had a shortage of the same item — bottled water.

Companies and nonprofits across the region have stepped up to ensure that people who come by the school have water to collect.
Dan Maher, president and CEO of the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank, told the Advance that his organization had supplied five pallets of water to Lions Wilderness pantry on Thursday.
He had also learned from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management that WalMart had shipped in enough water for “distributions of cases of water at Locust Grove Middle School until 7 [Thursday night] and from 10 AM - 7 PM on Friday.
Stay with the Advance today and through the weekend as we keep you up to date on the water issues in Orange County.
