Responsible School Funding is a watchdog to prevent fraud, waste, and abuse. Tighten the belt. Make do with what is offered. Schools should also NOT be drawing off of Lottery proceeds which should go to the people. Let's start with reasonable Superintendent of Schools' salaries and not a bloated the sky's the limit. We're dealing with those who when enough is never enough. The endless bottom of the bucket that goes nowhere. Kids will learn wherever they want without reckless spending.
My two children received reasonably good educations from Stafford County & graduated in 2020 and 2023. This situation is even worse than anything endured (budget-wise) when they were school, and will only be heightened thanks to mandates from the current administration in DC to gut the Dept of Education.
Even a few years ago, as my kids went from Falmouth Elem, to Drew MS to Stafford HS, there were shortfalls in what the system could deliver compared to other counties, and some of the resources within the individual schools listed above were less than some of SCPS in the northern part of our county.
I support education with all my heart and we need an educated citizenry. I will be contacting my elected officials as per the request in this piece!
