As breaking news goes, it wasn’t the most dramatic of stories — a rabid raccoon was found in Spotsylvania County. Still, rabies is certainly nothing to take for granted, and the Advance gives a hearty shout out to government officials for letting folks know so they can protect themselves and their four-footed friends. It’s hard not to have a little fun with it, too, though. Especially when Clay Jones is around. As he wrote the Advance Friday afternoon about three hours after the news broke, “I was thinking of other things, but the raccoon is too good to skip.”
