Mr Saller, I have been a firm advocate of geothermal heating and cooling as a way of reducing the amount of external energy to heat and cool buildings. However, I am sure that there are situations where the geology and hydrology of some localities make it very expensive or even cost-prohibitive to use underground water sources as a heat source/sink. I find very little literature regarding the construction of liquid or solid heat storage tanks, either above or below ground and associated costs compared to traditional geothermal systems. Are you aware of any such studies?
