FXBG ADVANCE EXCLUSIVE: Cleaning up Interstate Crash Sites Getting More Efficient

The I95 corridor through our region has shut down completely in either the north- or south-bound direction 60 times, according to figures provided to the Advance by the Virginia Department of Transportation. The number of times the interstate was closed completely in one direction along this particular part of the highway went from 36 in 2023 down to 22 in 2024. Response and clean-up times are dropping, and new technologies and strategies may further reduce these times in the near future.
